What do "Valuing People" and "Person Centred Approaches" to
day services, really mean?
If you are an adult with a learning
difficulty you might have a home of your own for the first
time?
You might go to a centre or college during the day?
You will
probably attend a club for people who have special needs?
The services you used to use might be closing, or are no
longer available to you if you have left a residential home.
You may not have enough to do when you want to do it.
If you do have things to do you might not be able to get
there and back again.
What can you do about it?
Call today on 01234-844039.
We will come and see you. This is free. We will write to
you the same day and give you some choices about:
- Advice
on benefits like Independent Living Fund.
- Telling you about Direct
Payments which are grants from social services to
help you pay for and choose the care you get.
- Helping you do the
paperwork.
- Helping you choose
a support worker.
- Doing the things you
want to do when you want to do them with the support
you need. This might mean going to a pub or out for
a meal, swimming or going to a football match.
- Helping you to arrange
transport if you need it
- Helping you make realistic
and safe plans for future leisure and holidays.
Our promise
to people with learning difficulties, their families
and professionals who work with them.
1. We will be
honest and open. This means if we cannot do something we
will tell you. If we say we will do something
we will do it.
2. Anything we
achieve together will be as individual as you are.
3. We will be
positive and ambitious as well as realistic.
